MDCC20 - Thanksgiving Challenge

Welcome to our Thursday Card Challenge!

Before we begin, let me take a minute to congratulate Leah, who created this way cute GingerGirl! We just couldn't resist how adoreable she is! (Leah, remember to send us your address so we can get your prize to you.)

Today's challenge was to make a gift or money holder card.

Below are some of the designs created by our design team. If you have a chance to play please make sure to leave us a comment with a link to your creation, and use keyword MDCC21 if you upload to Splitcoast!

MDCSB7 - Family Holiday Traditions

Well, I didn't make it at 7 either! But I'm finally here to get our scrapbook challenge for the week up! I ended up buying a whole new computer, with a new operating system and a new virus program and a new office program, all of which I am sure are perfectly lovely but none of which I know how to work!! So again, so sorry for the delays!

Last week we had many lovely entries for our Fall challenge - you guys are all so talented! Because this IS a holiday week AND we were late in posting, we decided to pick TWO winners! And, they are Melissa and Melissa! Look at these two beautiful fall projects:

Melissa:

And Melissa:

Thank you all so much for sharing your entries with us! Melissa and Melissa - be sure to pm me your address (MDCreations.tlm@gmail.com) so I can send your prizes!

This week we decided to focus on family - it only makes sense when we start thinking about holidays we start thinking about our families and some of the things we do every year together. So this week we wanted to show some of our traditions! I will have a page to show you after the holiday, because despite my families long standing Thanksgivinig tradition, I don't actually have a picture of what I want to share with you! But here are some things our designers would like to share:

April Dycus

April used the brand new papers from Daisy Bucket's Merry Wishes collection!

Renee Griffith - Lasting Memories

Renee used papers from Imaginisce!

Now, it's not too often that someone responds to our challenge before we post actually post it, but given all the delays and the fact that I leaked our challenge subject to our Papercraft friends earlier today that's exactly what happened! I think if someone completes a challenge before it's even posted they ought to get a little recognition, so: Way to, Cathy! Here's her beautiful page:

Thanks for playing along with us - can't wait to see some of your traditions! Don't forget, if you upload your work to Splitcoast, please use keyword MDCSB7! Also, please leave a post here with a link to either your blog or your splitcoast upload... thanks so much and have a wonderful holiday!

MDCC20 - Same Product Many Ways OR a Color Challenge!

Hello, welcome to our Thursday cardmaking challenge! I'd like to take a minute to thank everyone who played last week's table decor challenge; I wasn't sure how many takers we'd have because some people are a little intimidated to move off the 'cardbase', but you all really pulled through and sent us some awesome entries! Check out this sample from this week's winner, Andrea:

Congratulations Andrea! (Make sure you pm me your address so I can get your prize out :) I hope you'll go back and look at everyone's entries - we had a hard time having only one winner!
This week I decided to do something a little different and fun for our design team - I sent them a "surprise" package with special products to use just for this challenge! The idea is to see what kind of different ideas everyone can come up with given the same materials to work with. I did allow them to use up the three colors of cardstock in addition to what we sent. Here was our surprise package:

Each person received two sheets of double sided pattern paper and two silk glittered snowflakes from My Little Yellow Bicycle's Christmas Magic collection, along with a bottle of white opal Liquid Pearls and a gingerbread man stamp from Imaginisce.
Now, you may be wondering how you can play along with us - well, you still can! For everyone who wants to play along with will be a color challenge - for those who use SU colors they would be Always Artichoke, Sage Shadow, and Riding Hood Red; for those who don't, think light green, dark green, and red! Bonus points for finding a gingerbread man to use on your page!! Look at the beautiful samples our design team made:

Last week we had an awesome sketch challenge by Maria - and so many beautiful cards resulted! Our winner is this super cute penguin card by Melissa:

Melissa, thank you so much for playing along with us... be sure to email me your address so I can send you your holiday rub-on pack!! And thank you all for playing along - it is so fun seeing the variety and creativity that results from a simple sketch challenge!

This week we have another fun challenge for you - a table decor item. I so love browsing around and finding all the cute things people come up with to decorate for the holidays, and I thought it would be really fun to incorporate the idea into a challenge that was kind of open, so we can see lots of different ideas all in one place! Get some ideas from our design team entries below, or wow us with your own unique idea!

Maria - Ria Creations

Maria used papers from Best Creations and a Serendipity stamp for her centerpiece.

Giovana - A Place to Praise and Craft

MDCSB5 - Scrapbook Challenge - Buttons Buttons!!

Good morning and thanks for visiting MDC Challenges!

I wanted to take a quick minute this morning to let you know that we just got in two great new product lines at the store. We just started carrying May Arts ribbon, sold by the yard, and we have some beautiful selections in stock. We also have a Sharon Ann's Christmas Magic line from My Little Yellow Bicycle. Both of these lines will be on sale for 10% off through tomorrow, Tuesday the 11th!

Now on to a fun challenge.... homemade buttons! I've seen a lot of beautiful pages where people created a 'faux' button, either from chipboard, felt, or layers or cardstock. It's such a fun look, a cheap way of dressing up a page, and a great way to get uniquely shaped buttons! Here are the awesome pages the team came up with:

Laurie Rodick - Lovin My Life

Laurie used paper from sei.

Maria Levine - Ria Creations

Maria used papers from the Imaginisce Fairest of them All collection.

April Dycus

April also used papers from the Fairest of Them All Collection.

Mia Montalvan-Castrillo - Scrappin Mama Mia

Mia used papers from the Basic Grey Sugared collection.

Isn't it wonderful, the different buttons created? We'd like to see the buttons YOU create! If you'd like to play along this week be sure to use keyword MDCSB5 to upload your creation to Splitcoast stampers, and leave a comment and link here! This week one lucky player will win this super cute package of lilac flower gems from Kaiser Craft:

By the way, have you seen our new forum at Paper Craft Planet? It's a great place to visit, chat with our designers and customers, and see all that's happening with MDC! Hope we see you there!

Thanks again for stopping by - can't wait to see your creations!

MDCC18 - Card Design Team Call and a Fun Sketch!!

Hello and thanks for stopping by! We've got a lot of fun things to share with you today! Of course, our next big design team search for our card team starts TODAY!! Keep reading to find out how to apply....
But first we want to congratulate our players from last week - we loved everyone's take on the challenge to use acetate and/or make a window card. We loved this card from Dawn - she actually made... a window!

How fun is that?? Thanks so much to everyone who played along - we love looking at your creations each week!
This week, Maria designed a fun sketch for us to use:

And look at her beautiful sample:

Maria Levine - Ria Creations

Maria used patterned paper from Basic Grey's granola collection, the Serendipity Stamp "Titmouse", and a flower and brad from Imaginisce.

Here are the beautiful creations from the rest of the team:

Linda Boucher - MDC Linda's Page

Linda used papers, rub-ons, and accessories from My Little Yellow Bicycle's Christmas Magic collection.

Tamara McKlveen - MDC Tamara's Page

Tamara used papers, rub-ons, and chipboard from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie collection, Christmas Red Stickles, and a brad from Imaginisce.

You can play along too! Leave us a link in the comment section of this post, and if you upload to Splitcoast Stampers used key word MDCC18. We have another prize this week - you could win this cool pack of rub-ons from Imaginisce - just in time for holiday card making!

We can't wait to see your awesome creations!

And now, finally, it's time to start our search for next Card Design Team members! If you're interested in our design team tryouts, here's what you need to do:
1. Start playing the weekly challenges
2. Submit three other cards and one altered project to us at MDCreations.tlm@gmail.com . These do not have to be made special for this call - we just want to see what you think your best work is. Please make sure to reduce your picture size to below 600x600 pixels!
3. In your email, include your name, contact information, your blog or gallery link, and answers to the following questions:
-How long have you been stamping or cardmaking?
-Do you design for any other webstores or sites; if so, please provide links.
-Why are you trying out for the MDC Design Team?
-How did you hear about the MDC DT search?
4. All entries are due by November 30th. Winners will be announced December 4th!

The following tips might be helpful:
1. Photography counts! We'd like the work you upload to be easy to see and professional looking.
2. We're looking for someone who can upload the weekly challenge, along with additional random layouts on a fairly regular basis.
3. We're looking for designers who are fairly flexible with their creations; of course, we'll probably be picking you based on your unique 'style', but if a challenge calls for a break away from that, a good designer should be capable of adapting. In addition, you should be comfortable working on altered items and/or home decor items.
4. If you do design for another store, the product lines they carry should be different from what MDC carries.
5. DT term will be for six months. During that time, you will be offered discounts and special promotions not available to other customers. In addition, we'll link your blog and promote your work as much as possible!

OK, I guess that about covers it! Please feel free to contact Tamara at the email dress above if you have ANY questions! Thanks SO much for your interest - can't wait to see what you create!

And We Have Our Winners!!

Good evening! First off, we want to thank EVERYONE who applied and who played along with us these last few weeks. We really enjoyed seeing all of the beautiful designs and it was very difficult to make our decision.

We'll do more formal introductions a little later, but for now we'd like to share the names and blog addresses of our winners and wish them a big CONGRATULATIONS!!! So, without further ado:

Mia Castrillo - Scrappin Mama Mia

Melita Chow - By His Grace

Renee Griffith - Lasting Memories

Robin Wade - Creating Memories One Moment At A Time

Again, congratulations ladies - thank you for sharing your awesome talent!!!

So, how about a new challenge to celebrate??? This week, an article in Scrapbooks Etc. caught my eye - the article was directed at digi scrappers, but I thought it would be fun to try. So, the challenge for this week is "color blocking". For more information, check out this link, or wait to be inspired by our design team!

To make things a little more interesting, I kept thinking about the phrase running around in everyone's heads these days... "My name is so-and-so and I approved this message." Well, I think the rest of us should have a chance to send a message too, so if you can add one to your page you get bonus points! This is not meant to be a political thing or anything difficult - any message you want to send to a loved one counts; think about something you want to say to your spouse or your child - that'll work! We can't wait to see what you have to say!

April Dycus

Laurie Rodick - Lovin My Life

Tamara McKlveen - MDC, Tam's Page

Thanks for stopping by our challenge blog today - be sure to check back on Thursday for our card design team post!!

It's Almost Here....

Good morning everyone! Just a quick note to let you know we are STILL making our final decisions about our new design team picks, so keep checking back and we'll let you know as soon as we do!! (It WILL be today!)
